The Before Common Era Cuff takes its name from the vast stretch of human history we tend to compress into the word ancient. Thousands of years of people making objects by hand, wearing precious metals, setting stones and leaving behind proof that beauty was never an unnecessary thing.

Cast in sterling silver or brass and finished with a soft satin surface, the cuff keeps the irregularities of its original form. Five 2 mm lab-grown diamonds can be set directly into the metal, scattered across the surface rather than arranged as decoration. It is also available without diamonds.

Ancient Summer began with a fascination with how old jewellery is. Before calendars, fashion houses, engagement rings and the idea of 'fine jewellery,' people were already making beautiful things to put on their bodies. The Before Common Era Cuff is our tribute to them.

It is for the person who likes gold with scratches in it. Who would rather visit the archaeological museum than the contemporary one. Who buys things with the intention of keeping them for forty years.

Cast and finished by hand in Cape Town, South Africa. Each cuff varies slightly in shape and surface.
