Proto Necklace

Proto means first. The earliest form of a thing. The version that exists before we decide what needs improving.

The Proto Necklace is made from rough-cut emerald, left irregular enough to show the stone before polish gets the final word. The rectangular beads shift from dark forest green to brighter, almost translucent green, with no attempt to make them perfectly uniform. Finished with a sterling silver or brass toggle clasp.

Ancient Summer is interested in what humans considered beautiful before beauty became an industry. Proto belongs to that idea. Emerald is precious. It does not need to be flawless.

It is for the person who has stopped trying to fix every good thing about themselves. Who likes crooked teeth, old houses, scars, unvarnished wood and people who laugh too loudly. Who has become more interested in character than perfection, including their own.

Rough-cut natural emerald (10-12mm)

Sterling silver or brass toggle clasp

Natural variations in colour, texture and shape are expected. The Proto Necklace comes in a standard 50cm.
