The Ruff Necklace is made from rough black tourmaline and a single coin pearl. Two materials that are usually polished, rounded and corrected have been left with their surfaces intact. The tourmaline is blunt and mineral-black; the pearl carries the ridges, colour and irregularity of its growth.

Ancient Summer is interested in precious materials before they become polite. Ruff takes that idea literally. At 40 cm, it is designed to sit high on the collarbones for most, with the coin pearl placed dead centre.

For the person who cuts their own fringe. Who prefers the unfinished version. Who has never been afraid of looking severe.

Designed and handcrafted in Cape Town, South Africa. Natural variations in the stones and pearl are expected.

The Ruff Necklace is a standard length of 40cm.
